When your payments are split between your business and your contractors, reconciling your books isn't as simple as syncing a payout and calling it done. You need your books to reflect what your business actually kept, not the full amount that came through, and your accountant needs that broken down properly to do their job.

Xero sync is here to fix that, and it's now available for SplitSum Tier 3 users.

What it does

Xero sync connects directly to your SplitSum payout schedule. Every time you get paid out, that payout is automatically created in Xero as a "money received" record, with each of the payments that make up that payout included as its own line item.

Importantly, those line items reflect your business's share only, not the full amount your customer paid or your contractor's cut. What you see in Xero is what actually belongs to your business.

Fees, sorted too

You can also choose to include Stripe fees within each money received record. When you do, the total in Xero matches your actual payout exactly, so what lands in your bank account is what you see reflected in your books. No more manually subtracting fees or wondering why the numbers don't quite line up.

Why this matters

For business owners, this means less time spent reconciling and more confidence that your books are accurate without needing to be an accountant yourself.

For accountants and bookkeepers, it means the data arriving in Xero is already broken down and categorized in a way that's ready to work with, rather than a single lump sum that needs to be unpicked.

Setting it up

Getting started takes three steps:

  1. Connect your Xero account to SplitSum.
  2. Map your payments to the right categories in Xero.
  3. Map your bank account.

That's it. Once connected, every future payout syncs automatically.

Who it's for

Xero sync is available now as part of Tier 3. If you're not sure which tier you're on, or want to see what's included at each level, you can check our pricing page.
